Angry Boko Haram Terrorists Killed 300 At Nigeria-Cameroon Border

Angry Boko Haram Terrorists Killed 300 At Nigeria-Cameroon Border
In an apparent move to wipe out a Nigerian border community in Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents have massacred over 200 people. Residents of Gamboru/Ngala said they saw blood and death as the Islamist sect members stormed the border town on Monday afternoon, killing more than 200 people in the three hours attack.”
They came at about 1.30pm on Monday and started shooting as soon as they arrived. They were many and very armed. I was in the market when they came and there was confusion. It was a day of blood and death as they were killing anybody they saw. It was as if they were angry and nothing could stop them,” an eyewitness, who did not want her name in print, told Daily Sun yesterday on phone. She said the insurgents had a field-day as “they operated for about three hours unhindered,” noting that the leader was giving orders to the foot soldiers who were killing and burning houses as well as vehicles.
“They even took away some vehicles especially pick-up vans, trucks and cars. They tried to carry one car, but the car won’t start, so they set it ablaze in anger. I was just lucky with my two children because we ran from the market and locked ourselves inside but God was merciful to us as they didn’t even attempt to open our door. It was a big miracle and I know God was with us,” she said further.
The eyewitness said that she has resolved to go back to her state as staying longer could be disastrous.Sources also said the insurgents took advantage of the absence of the youth vigilance team from the town to strike. The youth volunteers were said to have gone into the bush with some security troops in search of abducted Chibok schoolgirls, who they suspected may have been moved to the area from the Sambisa Forest where they were believed to have been kept initially.
Gamborou is a commercially active town on the Nigeria-Cameroon border and headquarters of Ngala Local Government Area, about 200 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital.
Meanwhile, Senator Ahmed Zannah, who represents the area, said on BBC Hausa monitored in Maiduguri yesterday that about 300 people were killed. He said scores were also injured in the attack, while almost all the houses and shops in the town were burnt down by the attackers.
The terrorists stormed the community, setting ablaze houses and shot residents who tried to escape from the fire. About 300 persons were confirmed dead after the incident, with several others injured.Almost all the houses in the community were destroyed by the hoodlums who threw Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at the buidings. “My brother who was at the scene of the attack told me that the actual number of the dead cannot be ascertained, but at least, they are up to 300,” Zannah said.
