A 38-year-old woman, Janet Fagbadebo, has been
arrested and arraigned at an Ebute Meta Magistrate's court for killing
her husband, Kehinde Fagbadebo in Okorodu area of Lagos during an
argument over money and infidelity.
The couple started having disagreement over marital unfaithfulness barely 2 years into their marriage.
On that fateful day, Janet had suspected her husband, 43
of going out to meet his concubine so she tried to stop him, demanding
money from him.
They started arguing and Janet was said to have forcefully dipped
her hand into her husband's pocket and he slapped her. She reportedly
dashed into the kitchen and reached for a knife which she used in
stabbing her husband. She then raised an alarm which alerted neighbours
who rushed him to a hospital in the area where he was confirmed dead.
She is facing a one count charge of murder.
The plea of Mrs Janet who was not represented by any counsel was not taken.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Cousin Adams, applied for
her remand in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of
Public Prosecution.
Presiding over the matter, Magistrate, K.O. Ogundare,
ordered that she should be remanded in prison for the first 30 days
permitted by law pending the release of the DPP legal advice and
adjourned the case till May 19, 2014.
