Major Al-Mustapha is suing the Islamic preacher for defamation and character assassination as contained in one of his Friday sermons sometimes in December, 2013, where he allegedly accused the former chief security officer of being contracted to train the killer squad mentioned in the controversial former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The former CSO to Abacha who spoke to journalists after the case was adjourned for hearing to 22 May, 2014, said he was in court to seek justice.
“We have filed a motion to this court and we are here to seek for justice over some mischievous allegations against me which I see as a wave of dangerous propaganda that requires legal attention, particularly in an Islamic court.
“I want the court to look at the case before it and bring out the content, so that justice will be done in shortest time possible in the interest of peace, security, harmony and in the interest of Islam upon which the person we have brought before the court have utilised,” he said.
Speaking further, Al-Mustapha added that “I am a Muslim and he is a Muslim, and we went to the court on the content of Sharia laws.”
Sheik Khalil according to the originating sermon, had in December, 2013 in a Friday Sermon, told the crowd that Al-Mustapha was given a contract by President Jonathan to train some young snipers and killers in order to kill some 1000 people in the country perceived to be stumbling block to achieving his political ambition.
Meanwhile the former chief security officer (CSO) to late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has denied working for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 general elections.
In an interview with journalists in Kaduna, the former CSO said he was interested in the peace and harmony of Nigeria and not politics.
He said, “I am committed to the peace of Nigeria. Nigerians must live in peace, they must be allowed to have their right, the country must be protected and people must have all it takes to utilise all the opportunities as Nigerians. That is what I stand for.
“I am not working for President Jonathan ahead of 2015, certainly I am not a card carry member of any political party. I have not made any political statement anywhere. We want peace in Nigeria and nothing more.”
