“Stop posting our brothers to the North” – Ijaw Youth Council to NYSC, military, and law body

Last we heard from the Ijaw Youth Council, they were telling President Goodluck Jonathan that whether he liked it or not, he would run for President in 2015.

Today, they have asked the authorities of the National Youth Service Corps and the military authorities to stop posting indigenes of Ijaw extraction to northern states. There was also a request to the Council of Legal Education to stop posting lawyers from the Ijaw nation to the north.
They also said that Northern leaders have a lot of questions to answer on the insecurity in their region as it just a plan to undermine the Presidency of their Ijaw brother.
Spokesman for IYC, Mr. Eric Omare, said these at a news conference in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital on Friday, adding that the IYC would no longer tolerate the killing of their brethren in the North.
He said, “The board of NYSC should henceforth stop posting Ijaw youths to northern Nigeria. We no longer accept sending our youths are to the North, particularly the North-East where the activities of Boko Haram have led to the decimation of our people. “
On what would happen if the NYSC authorities refused, Omare said, “We will cross the bridge when we get there. I do not want to unfold our strategies now.”
